Fire Officer I
Overview: The Division defines a Fire Officer I as a person having the responsibilities of a Company Officer who supervises a single fire suppression unit or small administrative group within a fire department. The Fire Officer I may also be referred to as a Supervising Fire Officer.
FLORIDA STATE FIRE OFFICER I REQUIREMENTS
Possess an active Firefighter Certificate of Compliance issued by the Division or havemet the curriculum requirements for Firefighter Part I as defined in 69A-37.055(1) F.A.C.Complete the Fire Officer I Curriculum.
Complete the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation "Courage to be Safe" course (you may attach the certificate for this course during the state application process online or by mail.)
Meet the job performance requirements of NFPA 1021 - Fire Officer I (2009).
Submit "Application for Fire Officer I Certification", on FCDICE online or by mail:
Submit the “Fire Officer I Task Book” with required signatures.
Pass the Fire Officer I Exam with a score of 70% or higher.

Fire Officer II
Overview: The Division defines a Fire Officer II as a person having the responsibilities of a Company Officer whose duties include supervising a multi-unit emergency incident. The Fire Officer II may also be referred to as a Managing Fire Officer.To qualify for certification as a Fire Officer II, the applicant shall:
Possess an active Firefighter Certificate of Compliance issued by the Division or have met the curriculum requirements for Firefighter Part I as defined in 69A-37.055(1) F.A.C.
Possess an active Fire Officer I Certificate of Competency issued by the Division.
Complete the prerequisite course titled “ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents” or a course determined by the Division to be equivalent.
Complete the Florida State Fire College “Florida State-Wide Emergency Response Plan (SERP)” course.
Complete the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation course titled “Courage to Be Safe” (you may attach the certificate for this course during the state application process online or by mail.)
Complete the Fire Officer II Curriculum.
Meet the job performance requirements of NFPA 1021 - Fire Officer II (2009).

Fire Inspector I
To be certified as a Firesafety Inspector I in the State of Florida, an individual must successfully complete a minimum of 225 hours of basic certification training (classes listed below) for Firesafety Inspectors, or have received equivalent training in another state, and pass a state written examination.
Documentation of training is to be submitted with the required Application for Firesafety Inspector Certification Examination on FCDICE online or Form DFS-K4-1023 along with all other supporting documents, at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled test date.

Fire Service Instructor
Overview: There are three levels of Instructor Certification
Instructor 1
To qualify for certification as a Fire Instructor I, the applicant shall:
Have a minimum of six-years’ experience as a regular member of an organized fire department.
FCDICE course history must document the successful completion of the Fire Service Course Delivery class (not less than 45 hours duration) or submit an Approved Course Equivalency Request for this course.
Documentation of high school graduation or equivalent.
Physical ability to perform the tasks associated with the training.
Submit the Fire Instructor I Application for Certification on FCDICE online or by mail (Form DFS-K4-1451 PDF)
Pay the current application fee
Successfully complete the Instructor I State Written Examination with a score of 70%or greater.

ATPC 16701 Fire Service Program Management 24 hr
Instructor 2
To qualify for certification as a Fire Instructor II, the applicant shall:
Have a minimum of six-years’ experience as a regular member of an organized fire department.
FCDICE course history must document the successful completion of the Fire Service Course Delivery class (not less than 45 hours duration) or submit an Approved Course Equivalency Request for this course.
FCDICE course history must document the successful completion of the Fire Service Course Design class (not less than 45 hours duration) or submit an Approved Course Equivalency Request for this course.
Documentation of having earned an Associate Degree or higher.
Physical ability to perform the tasks associated with the training.
Submit the Fire Instructor I Application for Certification on FCDICE online or by mail (Form DFS-K4-1452)
Pay the current application fee
Successfully complete the Instructor II State Written Examination with a score of 70%or greater.

Instructor 3
To qualify for certification as a Fire Instructor III, the applicant shall:
Have a minimum of six-years’ experience as a regular member of an organized fire department.
FCDICE course history must document the successful completion of the Fire Service Course Delivery class (not less than 45 hours duration) or submit an Approved Course Equivalency Request for this course.
FCDICE course history must document the successful completion of the Fire Service Course Design class (not less than 45 hours duration) or submit an Approved Course Equivalency Request for this course.
FCDICE course history must document the successful completion of the Florida Training Manager class (not less than 24 hours duration).
Documentation of having earned a Bachelors’ Degree or higher.
Physical ability to perform the tasks associated with the training.
Submit the Fire Instructor III Application for Certification on FCDICE online or by mail (Form DFS-K4-1453)
Pay the current application fee.
Successfully complete the Instructor III State Written Examination with a score of 70% or greater.
NOTE:
All personnel holding an active Fire Service Instructor III certification prior to December 23,2020 must be compliant with the requirements of the 24-Hr. Training Program Manager Course on or before December 31, 2024, and will not be subject to the Fire Service Instructor III state exam.

PUMP OPERATOR (DRIVER ENGINEER)
To be certified as a Pump Operator in the State of Florida, an individual must successfully complete 80 hours of basic certification training for Apparatus and Pump Operators, or have received equivalent training in another state, and pass a state written examination.
Documentation of training is to be submitted with the required Application for Pump Operator Certification Examination on FCDICE online or by mail (DFS-K4-1457 PDF or DFS-K4-1457 Word), Personal Inquiry Waiver (DFS-K4-1020), along with all other supporting documents and processing fee, at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled test date.

AERIAL OPERATIONS (LADDER OPERATOR)
The course curriculum can be designed around the requirements of the requesting fire department. Classroom lectures and practical exercises are conducted in the principles and uses of aerial and pumper apparatus, including the recognition of hazards which may be present during aerial operations. The curriculum also includes classroom lectures and exercises in the principles, uses and tactical and safe placement of platform apparatus. Exercises are also conducted in the use and principles of aerial and pumper apparatus, including the recognition of hazards which may be present during aerial operations. Students must bring gloves and proper attire for water pumping exercises. Please bring a hard hat, gloves, gear for water tower exercise and appropriate footwear.

PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER (PIO)
This course will prepare the student to serve effectively as a organizational spokesperson, according to current practices in the profession of public relations and numerous examples from the fire service. Particular emphasis will be placed on case studies in crisis communications and the role of the PIO in the incident command system.
